Apt-Get Love: Ubuntu 12.04LTS

Somewhere, sometime, somehow I stumbled across this wonderful piece of kit called Linux.  As a Windows user by default (and OSX admirer) I was pleasantly surprised with Ubuntu, and some of the other distros, when I started dabbling in the ever growing world of open source.  After working with OpenSuse for a while, I settled on Ubuntu since it seemed to have the most available software that fit my needs.  Unfortunately, I started using Ubuntu when the then-current LTS, 10.04, was nearing the end of its shelf life.  Not being familiar with their release cycles and still a Linux noob,…

Resurrect that Vintage PC, Linux Style

Do you Ubuntu?

Ever heard of Linux?  If you haven't, then terms like Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, and OPENSuse probably sound as foreign to you as another language.  In fact, that's what a Linux O/S is, another language... apart from other operating systems like Windows.  Speaking of which, Linux doesn't understand much of the Microsoft lingo that most of us have become all too familiar with.  Linux doesn't comprehend words such as adware, malware, spyware, trackware, trojans, worms, rootkits, or the blue screen of death!
